Family Religious Education

Please see the message below from Justin Spaeth:

Hello Families and Parishioners of Blessed Trinity and Saint John Evangelist Parishes,

I am pleased to be able to offer you a chance to grow in faith with your family through the guidance of our community here at Blessed Trinity and Saint John Evangelist. Our children depend on us to be models of Christ in their lives, and to help pass down the teachings our Lord gave us through Scripture and through Tradition.

As promised in the last video update, the digital sign up for our Family Religious Education Nights is here:

Quick recap of the program:

Beginning on
Wednesday, August 12, there will be 24 total dates throughout the school year to choose to attend with your family. We are only listing the first 12 for signup and giving dates and topics for the spring semester. I will make those dates available for sign-up later.

The sign-up allows us to accommodate everyone with enough food and catechists by having you choose which dates you plan on attending with your family. Don’t worry if your plans change, just e-mail to let me know, and I can adjust numbers manually. Please note the location and the structure for each date as the location rotates and the structure changes by topic.

We ask that you sign up for at least 12 of the 24, but of course you are welcome and encouraged to come to them all. There is no cost associated with these events.

We do ask that each family would serve/clean up or help provide for the meal twice a school year or once a semester.

Family Formation starts at 5:00 pm with a meal. The Religious Education will start around 5:30 pm and go until about 6:30 pm.

Summer Program

Thank you to all the families that participated in the 2-week Summer Religious Education program. We would like to get information regarding next year's program out as soon as possible so people can put it on their calendars.

Vote here for a timeframe that works for your family for next summer:
blessedtrinity.ccbchurch

This program will run from 8:30-11:30 am at Blessed Trinity next summer, will be required for those needing sacramental prep, and promises to again be a fruitful experience for everyone involved!

For Children going into 2nd Grade:

Please respond with your vote for the timeframe of the 2-week program next summer. Your child’s first Reconciliation will take place on the first Saturday of this program, and their first Communion will take place the weekend following the 2-week program.

We will also be requiring a meeting of families whose children will be going into 2nd grade and receiving the sacraments. Please put Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 pm at Saint John Evangelist Parish on your calendar. We will be discussing parent responsibilities during this important year, there will be some adult and child formation about the sacraments, and we plan to give out resources to help use in the home leading up to the 2-week summer program.

For Confirmation Students:

Confirmation students will include anyone from either parish who would like to be confirmed and is going into 10th grade or higher this school year. Sacramental prep will mostly be done during the 2-week summer program, so please vote for a time that works best for you in the above link so we can get this program on the calendar as soon as possible. We plan on Confirmation being held on October 10, 2027, with a confirmation retreat September 25-26, 2027.

In preparation for this important year, we will require that families attend an Introduction to the Sacrament of Confirmation on October 14, 2026, at Blessed Trinity Parish at 6:00 pm.

Involvement in service to the community is critical to preparation for Confirmation. Students are asked to serve at 4 of the Family Religious Education nights throughout the year as a start to this commitment. Families will determine with the teen what other opportunities to serve the community would be beneficial to their formation, but an exact number of hours or projects will not be required.

I understand that there may be many questions after reading through all of this. Please reach out to me via e-mail for simple clarifications. For more in-depth questions, please call or set up a time to meet with me throughout the week.

We implore the intercession of Our Lady of Champion who said to Adele Brice: “Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they need to know for their salvation.”.

God Bless you all!
